3-Ingredient Lemon Ginger Fizz Mocktail

This mocktail comes together quickly. All you need is a bottle of Ritual Zero Proof Whiskey Alternative, some ginger beer ( I like Q Mixers), and a lemon.

I like this drink because it is simple, yet packs a flavorful punch. The fizziness from the ginger beer and the slight burn from the whiskey alternative (and ginger beer, to be honest) gives it a nice kick.

How to Make a Lemon Ginger Fizz Mocktail

First, gather your ingredients and equipment. You’ll need:

  • A tall tumbler
  • Some ice
  • A bar spoon (or just a regular spoon if that’s what you’ve got)
  • A jigger (or eyeball it if you’re a daredevil like that)
  • Ritual Zero Proof Whiskey Alternative (or NA whiskey of your choosing)
  • Ginger Beer
  • A lemon

Start by filling your glass with ice. Then, add 2 ounces of Ritual Whiskey Alternative (the larger end of the jigger).

Next, add your lemon juice using the small end of the jigger. I used fresh squeezed, but you can try it with bottled lemon juice if that’s all you’ve got on hand.

Then pour your ginger beer until the glass is full.

Last, use a long bar spoon to mix it all together. For some extra flare, add a lemon wedge to the glass, and voila! You’re ready to sip.

Does it taste like alcohol?

Kind of, and depending on your reason for making a mocktail that can be a good or bad thing. When I was a drinker, one of my favorite things to drink was Jack Daniels and Sprite.

It hits a lot of the same flavor notes. The Ritual Whiskey Alternative is very oaky and smoky and has a lot of warm spices, cinnamon, vanilla, and recognizable flavor profiles for former whiskey lovers.

But it is not whiskey.

I actually think this is why it has such a low rating on Amazon. People want it to be the real thing without being the real thing and it just isn’t.

It’s the same way vegan cheese will never really taste quite like cheese.

If you want something that has unique flavors and spices that resemble the ADDED flavor notes in whiskey, this is great.

But again, it is not whiskey.

People do complain of a weird aftertaste when they try to sip it straight. I didn’t notice anything weird, however, and when combined with the ginger beer and lemon, it tastes pretty damn good.

If you’re drinking mocktails because you are newly sober and are trying to replace your favorite drinks this may be a great alternative for you. It might also be triggering.

Experiment and see how you like it! It might hit the spot, or you may decide it’s too reminiscent of the real thing (or just close enough to make you crave the real thing), in which case, no thanks!

Can I use ginger ale instead?

You probably could, but I wouldn’t. Ginger beer has a very distinctive bite to it that you would lose using ginger ale. I also think it would be too sweet, but that’s just my preference. You might love it!
